Portraits have fascinated me as
long as I can remember.
My first sculpture was that of my
68 year old neighbour in 1985.
27 years later again she is sitting
as a model. This portrait becomes

Gaia means ‘Earth’/ ‘Great mother’.
The first portrait is made of high
alumina cement, and was buried
and ‘forgotten’ for 27 years in

For many years I have made use
